My name is Summer Kirkpatrick. I’m 32 and I live in Greenville SC with my husband (Cameron) and our 2 dogs (Titan and Apollo).
Now, I don’t have an amazing weight loss story to share or an unbelievable transformation to show you. But, I have made a huge lifestyle change and I’m working on myself everyday! I was never “fat” or “skinny” I was just kind of average. But I was never really happy with that.
For many years I was an avid gym-goer. You could find me and my husband in the gym 4-6 days a week, any given week, and it was a very normal thing for us. I thought that since I was spending at least an hour a day at the gym and trying every lame dieting fad, pill, and wrap out there, that I was doing everything I could to be healthy. But in the past year I started noticing that my body wasn’t improving. Even though I was spending an hour on the treadmill, half an hour doing various workouts, and trying all those “lose weight fast tricks” I found on Pinterest, nothing changed. I wasn’t losing weight, toning up, or anything!
I had also graduated from college with my degree in Marketing. I spent months looking for a job in my field, but I only got offers for sales positions for places and products I knew nothing about and had no interest in. I kept applying and sending my resume out to companies that I admired and wanted to work for. But, with every rejection letter I received I could feel myself falling deeper and deeper into a depression. I tried to hide it from my husband, but he could feel my frustration and just tried to be supportive. He kept telling me to “keep looking” and “There’s something out there for you”. I wanted to believe him but I couldn’t help that sinking feeling that I was letting him down and I was terrified of becoming a failure.
One night, I was randomly scrolling through Instagram and I came across a post about getting paid to start your own fitness journey and help inspire others. Since I wasn’t getting results at the gym and was still job hunting, I figured I would check it out. It turned out that the post was for Fitness Coaches through Beachbody. I felt instantly drawn to the idea of helping others while working on myself. I jumped right into it and started the coach training right away. I chose Piyo as my first workout program, drank chocolate Shakeology, and I started making healthier choices for my meals. It wasn’t easy to make the transition from spending 10 hours a week at the gym to spending 30 minutes a day working out at home, but I got used to it. I liked Piyo and lost a few pounds, but I needed more of a challenge. So once I finished that program, I started 21 Day Fix Extreme and It kicked my butt! The results were incredible! Now, I’m still a work in progress, but I’m very happy and excited about the direction my life has taken.
Since that day in September of 2016 I have been focusing all of my energy on my health (mentally and physically), helping and inspiring others, and growing my business. I absolutely love what I do and I plan on using this blog to share my story and help others who are looking for inspiration and direction in their life. ♥
